Daily Itinerary

Cycling in Croatia - The Otac NikolaThe Otac Nikola can accomodate a maximum of 30 guests in 13 tastefully furnished cabins. Five double cabins are located below deck, four three-bed-cabins on the maindeck and four more double cabins on the upper deck. The stylish two-masted motoryacht measuring 21 m by 7 m has a steel hull painted a brilliant white that attracts attention in every harbour. The spacious sundecks on two levels are equipped with comfortable chairs and sunbeds. The ship has a bathing platform at the stern that makes it very easy for swimmers to get in and out of the water.

A number of these trips will be on The Romantica, a luxurious boat that was only launched in May 2007. The ship is 32 m long and 7.6 m wide with a solid steel structure and, as the name suggests, connects romance with all the latest in equipment, technology and comfort. The captain pays a lot of attention to the elegant appearance of his ship. It boasts 17 comfortably equipped cabins 9-10 square metres each. The far sundeck offers couch mats for sunbathing and relaxing. A characteristic of the ship is a bathing platform at the stern.

There is a supplement payable if this boat is chosen.

We use a German operator for these holidays, and as other agents in Europe and America, such as ourselves, sell these tours it is likely you will have a mix of German and other nationalities on this tour adding to the cultural enjoyment.

Day 1 (Sat): Arrive Trogir – Rogoznica, 12 miles (20 km).

Individual approach, either by car to Trogir or by plane to Split. After checking in on the wooden yacht at Trogir and a first lunch on board, you first cruise begins. You are heading for Rogoznica, a small settlement on an island connected to the mainland by a dam. From Rogoznica you undertake your first cycle tour. You will spend the first night in the harbour of Rogoznica.

Day 2 (Sun): Rogoznica - Skradin, 12.5 + 6 miles (20 + 10 km).

In the morning you will bike to Primošten. Your motor yacht will then take you through a narrow passage to Šibenik. After visiting the famous cathedral, your ship will take off again and advance further and further up the Krka river. In the evening you will arrive in Skradin, from where you will explore the magnificent lower waterfalls of Krka in the national park of the Canyon of Krka, a geological peculiarity under protection. Here the Krka meanders the first 10 km through a flat region, the following 40 km through canyons and then 20 km through lakes, which are connected with the Adriatic.

Day 3 (Mon): Skradin - Murter, 25 + 18 miles (40 + 30 km).

Today you will be cycling from Skradin through farmlands to Vodice, where you will have lunch and have the opportunity to bathe on a beautiful beach. In the afternoon you will reach the island of Murter, which is connected with the mainland by a lifting bridge. You will meet the ship for dinner in a romantic quiet harbour.

Day 4 (Tue): Slanica - Biograd - Pasman - Ugljan - Zadar, 25 + 18 miles (40 + 30 km).

During breakfast the boat takes you to Slanica on the mainland. Then you begin your first extensive bike tour. This trip takes you around Lake Vran to Beograd. Lake Vran is the largest freshwater lake in Croatia. On account of its floral and faunal diversity, a large part of the shore and the lake is protected as a nature park. While you enjoy lunch, your ship takes you to the island of Pasman at the Zadar Canal. You bicycle along the east coast and cross a bridge to reach the island of Ugljan. In a quiet bay you eat your lunch. In the afternoon, the ship takes you to Zadar which, for centuries, was the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. Your tour-guide takes you on an extensive walk through the lanes of the lively old centre. 3000 years of history have left their imprint on the character of this town and there is much to be admired: the mighty fortified walls with their bastions, the loggia and also the early Romanesque St. Donatus basilika. Overnight in the harbour of Zadar.

Day 5 (Wed): Island of Dugi Otok, 40 miles (65 km).

In the morning you cruise to the island of Dugi Otok. Your bike tour begins at the bay of Bozava surrounded by pine forests, agaves and tamarisks, along a virtually traffic-free road. At first you cycle to the lighthouse of Veli Rat and to a deserted beach for swimming. Then, along a panoramic road, you ride clear across the island. During the ride you are treated to countless unforgettable vistas of the islands in the deep-blue sea. You meet your boat in the beautiful little harbour of Savar and have lunch. Afterwards you continue by bike along the panoramic road as far as Sali, where you spend the night.

Day 6 (Thu): Island of Dugi Otok - Kornati national park - Zlarin, 9 miles (15 km).

In the morning you follow in the footsteps of Winnetou: The bike ride takes you into the Telascica
nature park, the location of the „Silver Lake“ that played an important role in a film about the famous
Apache Chief. It is not only the Silver Lake but also the steep cliffs above the sea, which you
can explore on foot, that make the visit to this nature park such a great experience.
In the afternoon you go on a cruise through the national park of the Kornati islands, an archipelago of
crystal-clear waters known for its diverse flora and fauna. In the peaceful atmosphere of the island of
Zlarin you spend a relaxing evening.

Day 7 (Fri): Island of Zlarin - Primosten – Trogir, 28 miles (45 km).

In the morning you proceed by boat to Primosten. A last bicycle ride takes you to the hinterland of the coast, through small villages and along little-frequented roads, as far as Trogir.

On your last downhill ride you enjoy once more a wide vista across the coastal region of Split. In the afternoon you stroll through the old quarters of the town, listed as a cultural heritage site, and say farewell to the crew and the tour-guides.

Day 8 (Sat): Depart from Trogir.

The guests are asked to check out after breakfast, i.e. by 9 am.
